Viewers will get an inside look at their practice and tournament days to see how they make critical fishing decisions on the fly. The series also reveals how this trio uses the Deep Dive app to closely examine conditions and decipher fisheries across the country.
Jordan Lee: Bassmaster Tournament Tips for Fishing the Conditions
Two-time Bassmaster Classic winner Jordan Lee is a big proponent of fishing the conditions, no matter the venue.
“Changing conditions create new opportunities and new bite windows during a tournament week,” Lee says. “To find those opportunities, I have to be able to measure the change in conditions accurately. Viewing the recent past, present, and forecasted future of a condition on Deep Dive lets me measure how much change is actually taking place over time.”
“Used to be, all we had was a morning weather forecast and maybe a government website to find a lake’s water level,” Lee recalls. “Now with Deep Dive, we have a single app that provides weather, wind, water clarity, water flows, current generation, even tides – and we can check the changing conditions up-to-the minute as many times as we want to.”
Jordan uses Deep Dive to identify condition edges or micro-windows created by a condition change.
“We always say, ‘fish the wind,’ or ‘fish the current,’ but sometimes it’s the change in those factors that matters most,” Lee details. “It’s the first wind that starts to blow after it’s been calm. It’s the initial water movement at the start of current generation that makes small windows. With Deep Dive, you can identify when those true changes are taking place.”
Chris Zaldain: Using Lake Maps & Real-Time Weather Tools
During Deep Dive on Tour, it’s common to see Chris Zaldain constantly checking the Deep Dive tools and maps for condition changes.
“It’s like having a live weather and water conditions feed in your pocket at all times,” Zaldain says. “During the Deep Dive on Tour show, we will show you the app’s maps and tools we use every day to make better decisions on the water.”
